Standing Water Alert

standing water

With the last week’s rain event and the rainy season upon us, it is important to become aware of any areas around your property which may have accumulated standing water. Standing water promotes the breeding of mosquitoes which can transmit diseases, including the Zika Virus.

Using tablets in standing water can be effective in killing mosquito larvae where mosquitoes breed, and can been found online or your local hardware store. Products such as Clarke Natular DT have shown positive results in killing mosquito larvae for up to sixty (60) days. Removing and/or sanitizing standing water can decrease the potential health risks for all of our residents. Below are the most common areas where standing water can be found:

  • Old tires
  • Bottles and cans
  • Pots and pans
  • Gutters
  • Garden equipment
  • Swimming pools
  • Flowerpots and saucers
  • Tarps
  • Buckets
  • Children’s toys
