Wilton Manors/Oakland Park Joint Climate Action Plan

There are two overarching goals of the Plan:

  • Mitigate the effects of climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 1% each year through
    the year 2028.
  • Increase resilience of our communities while
minimizing impacts to efficiency and cost-effective
    business operations.

Read the September 2018 Op-Ed authored by Mayors Lonergan and Resnick and published in the South Forida Sunsentinel, about why it makes sense to work on resilience issues on a regional basis.

The Draft Oakland Park/Wilton Manors Joint Climate Action Plan was presented to the Wilton Manors City Commission on July 24, 2018 and to the Oakland Park City Commission on August 1, 2018.

Public outreach meetings were held to solicit and receive public comment on the draft plan on November 15, 2018 and November 28, 2018.

The Oakland Park and Wilton Manors City Commissions will approve the final Plan in 2019.
