Trash Collection

For our residential customers, trash is collected twice weekly - with Christmas Day being the only day of the year that trash is not collected.

The City is divided into three zones for garbage, recycling and bulk collection.

Zone 1:  Your garbage collection is on the Monday/Thursday schedule, and your recycling will be collected on Thursdays.
Zone 2:  Your garbage collection is on the Tuesday/Friday schedule, and your recycling will be collected on Fridays.
Zone 3:  Your garbage collection is on the Wednesday/Saturday schedule, and your recycling will be collected on Wednesdays.
By 7:00 a.m. on your garbage collection day, but not before the evening prior, your garbage cart must be placed within five (5) feet of the street. It is important for you always to have the cart facing the street.  After the trash has been collected, you are required to remove the empty cart by the end of the same day, to an area that is not visible from the street.  Please call (954) 390-2190 if your trash has not been collected by 5:00 p.m. on your garbage collection day.
Overfilled Garbage Cart
The photo at right shows a garbage cart that was far too overfilled for the City's contractor, Waste Management, to be able to service. In order for their mechanized system to work, the lid of the garbage cart must be closed. In the example shown, the contents of the cart would not make it into the garbage truck, but would end up on the street.

Also, please be aware that garbage cans that were not provided by the City of Wilton Manors (including those from other cities) will not be serviced by Waste Management and may be confiscated. Any garbage can other than the rollout container provided by the City of Wilton Manors, that is placed at the curb on a regular trash day or on a bulk pick-up day, may be disposed of along with other trash.

Each residence is supplied with one garbage cart. Additional carts are available for an additional monthly charge. Please call City Hall at (954) 390-2100 for the current rate and to arrange for delivery of an additional garbage cart. 

Residential customers who are physically disabled or mentally challenged and are unable to place rollout garbage carts at the curb, may request side-door service. Additionally, residential customers who are 65 years or older may request to use a smaller 35-gallon garbage cart. The City may require sufficient documentation to determine eligibility for side-door service and the use of smaller 35-gallon carts.
